Mother’s Comfort Project: Helping Animals in SheltersSpecial Thanksgiving Sewing Event Announced for November 20
“I didn’t think I had it in me. It would be too hard. It would make me too sad. I would want to bring everyone home with me. That was how I felt on my first visit to a municipal shelter delivering beds for the Mother’s Comfort Project. But, deep down, I also knew that whatever apprehension I had was totally outweighed by wanting to give some love and a soft place to rest to all of the beautiful animals that were there.”
Through the Mother’s Comfort Project, Rational Animal provides comfy homemade beds for animals to curl-up in and muffle the noise. We also make catnip toys adorned with orange animal guardian ribbons. The beds and toys are sewn by Rational Animal volunteers and school clubs at sewing studios in Brooklyn. They are delivered to Animal Care & Control where we place them inside cages and give pats of hope to weary souls.
