Rational Animal is seeking a volunteer social media associate to help the organization strengthen its presence on Facebook and Twitter. The social media associate will be part of Rational Animal's volunteer web team, which is led by a Rational Animal board member who has 10+ years of experience leading online media for nonprofit organizations -- so this is a great opportunity to learn and grow, as well as a nice addition to your resume.  

Responsibilities:

- Post updates to Rational Animal's Facebook and Twitter feeds 2-3 times daily

- Respond to questions and feedback that come in through these channels (reaching out to others at Rational Animal when necessary)

- Assist with other web projects as time and interest allow

Qualifications:

- Active user of social media. You "get" Facebook and Twitter because you use them all the time yourself. (Professional social media experience welcome, but not required.)

- Strong writing skills, including the ability to write short, compelling text for Facebook and Twitter.

- Self-starter with good judgement. You can take this assignment on and run with it. That being said, you aren't afraid to ask questions or to gently harass people to get the information you need.

- Passion for animal welfare issues. Experience working with the animal welfare community in NYC a plus.

- Upbeat, positive attitude 

Rational Animal is seeking a volunteer designer to help the organization redesign its logo and website in time for a late summer launch

The ideal candidate will have:

-an online portfolio that demonstrates their track record designing beautiful websites that effectively convey a nonprofit organization's brand and message, including calls to action.

-experience designing WordPress themes a huge plus.

-passion for animal welfare, and/or experience designing for animal welfare organizations, also a plus.
