RATIONAL ANIMAL AND BRITISH DESIGNER SUPPORT RESCUE DURING NYC'S FASHION NIGHT OUT

New York, NY-Sept 8, 2011- Rational Animal partnered with Radley London, one of the UK's leading women's accessory brands, to advocate breed rescue of the Scottish Terrier, the breed used by Radley London as its signature logo, on Fashion’s Night Out.
During Fashion’s Night Out in Soho, a photo shoot was held with a Radley model and the rescued Scotties from the breed rescue organization, Scottish Terrier Club of Greater New York. All wore the orange ribbon for at-risk animals indicating their support of adopting animals from shelters or breed rescue organizations rather than buying from puppy mill stores.  Following the shoot, the Radley model and the rescued Scotties attended an exclusive red carpet event in Midtown.
Radley London is selling large, durable, canvas totes with their iconic Scottie Dog logo and the affixed symbol for at-risk animals, Rational Animal’s orange ribbon pewter pin exclusively online at Lord and Taylor. A percentage of the proceeds are donated to Rational Animal.

RATIONAL ANIMAL HUMANE EDUCATION INITIATIVE, CELEBRATION WITH THE BRONX SCHOOL OF SCIENCE
May 18, 2011 at PS 306 / MS 331
Orange Ribbon for Animals Humane Education Program in the Bronx, view Press Release.
Rational Animal celebrated the conclusion of our 10-week after-school program at the Bronx School of Science Inquiry & Investigation.  Fifteen 6th grade girls learned the principles of the Orange Ribbon for Animals Save.Care.Love. campaign, met animals at Manhattan's AC&C shelter, learned about spay/neuter from AC&C's vet and spay/neuter surgeon, Dr. Yvonne Szacki, and much more.
From a volunteer on our April delivery:
"I didn't think I had it in me. It would be too hard. It would make me too sad. I would want to bring everyone home with me. That was how I felt on my first visit to a municipal shelter delivering beds for the Mother's Comfort Project. But, deep down, I also knew that whatever apprehension I had was totally outweighed by wanting to give some love and a soft place to rest to all of the beautiful animals that were there."

- Kelly, one of the amazing Mother's Comfort Project volunteers

THANKS TO DELOITTE IMPACT DAY - VOLUNTEERS SEWED 88 BEDS FOR MOTHER'S COMFORT PROJECT
On June 11, Mother's Comfort Project was joined by volunteers from the international consulting company Deloitte for their IMPACT Day when volunteers do community service. Ambassador Sadie Blackstar was on hand to oversee the productive team who made a record 88 beds for NYC shelters!

MOTHER'S COMFORT PROJECT BED DELIVERY
On May 23, Mother's Comfort Project volunteers brought 72 handmade beds and 102 cat toys made at our April sewing event to the Animal Care & Control shelter in Manhattan. We spend time with each animal, providing a little mother's comfort to these poor and weary souls. Cat toys also perk up cats who are depressed and make them show better for potential adopters.  Read more about Mother's Comfort Project.

Celebrate National Pigeon Day - June 13, 2010
Rational Animal was proud to show our support for pigeons, the too often unappreciated New Yorkers. While these birds are intelligent, loving, beautiful and resourceful, they too often bare the brunt of the worst of New York - poison, cars, wire, grease, traps...these pigeons are amazing survivors...souls to be championed, not targets to be killed.
National Pigeon Day festivities took place June 19 in Central Park.

PEARL JAM FANS RAISE FUNDS FOR RATIONAL ANIMAL AGAIN!
Since Eddie Vedder helped us raise funds by selling our concert tshirt at Pearl Jam and Buzzcocks concert at Madison Square Garden in 2003, the Wishlist Foundation, a Pearl Jam fan 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, continues to support our work by hosting pre-concert fundraisers to
celebrate Pearl Jam’s two night stint at Madison Square Gar
den.

On May 20 and 21
fans met at
Irish Times to help us raise funds for our work.

Trails to Tails, NYC's Shelter Map, Unveiled at City Hall on March 6, 2010

In an effort to increase public awareness of local shelters across New York City, public officials and animal advocacy groups  gathered to unveil Rational Animal's shelter map, Trails to Tails.  With the unveiling, officials stated they will begin to carry supplies of Trails to Tails maps in district offices to help New Yorkers find shelters, increase animal adoptions and help NYC reach its goal of ending euthanasia in city shelters by 2015.

Since 2004, Rational Animal has produced Trails to Tails with the goal of increasing adoptions at shelters -- diverting people from buying at puppy mill stores or breeders -- with the goal of helping homeless animals find homes and not face euthanasia in their future.

PSA Launch Party, April 22, 2009
Rational Animal produced a series of public service announcements to encourage people to spay and neuter their animals  with the aim of decreasing homeless animals and euthanasia in city shelters.

A sweet twist on humane education, this week-long event took place in 2007 and featured the animal-inspired gingerbread houses of NYC’s top pastry chefs. Gingerbread houses focus on at-risk animals and included tips on how to help.

Rational Animal exhibited this highly-acclaimed humane education holiday event in Central Park and at the Chelsea Market.
