In Memory of Rheda Brandt, Creator of the Mother’s Comfort Project
Rational Animal is accepting donations in memory of Rheda Brandt, the creator of our very special project, the Mother’s Comfort Project. Through this cage comforter-making project,
Rational Animal volunteers have made and delivered over 4,000 beds and cat toys directly into the cages of animals in NYC’s municipal shelters. Check out pictures from past events and deliveries on our Facebook page - Sewing & Delivery
Rheda Brandt is the beloved mother of Susan Brandt, Founder of Rational Animal, Laura Brandt, Rational Animal board member, and Vanessa Wensing, DVM, Rational Animal veterinary advisor.
Pictured left, on April 3, 2010: Rational Animal Founder, Susan Brandt, with Rheda Brandt, and Ambassador Sadie Blackstar. The sewing team made 72 beds and 102 cat toys that day.
Rheda passed away on March 26, 2011 after a battle with pancreatic cancer. She was so loved and will be so missed, but her legacy will live on in helping so many homeless animals in shelters who need some mother’s love and comfort. DONATE HERE!
